Troubleshooting

Are you without hot water or heating? Do you see a fault code on your boiler? Below you’ll find details about any potential faults codes. Please contact your installer if these don’t help resolve your problem.

My central heating boiler has broken down, can Intergas come take a look?

In such an event, please call your installer to come help resolve your boiler’s problem. You can find out who your installer is from your warranty card or your purchase invoice. If you took out a maintenance contact, please call your service company. Please follow the above guidelines, regardless of how old your boiler is, even in the first two years of your factory warranty. If you live in rented accommodation, please contact your landlord or housing association.

What can I troubleshoot myself if my boiler has a problem?

There are a few things you can do yourself. Check the following:

  • Is your boiler turned ON and is its plug in the socket?
  • Is your boiler’s water pressure between 1 and 2 bar?
  • Is the gas tap open?
  • Is the water tap open?
  • Is the room thermostat still working?
  • Is the temperature displayed on the room thermostat set to a very low temperature?
  • Are your radiators turned ON enough?
What can I do myself if my central heating system isn't providing any or enough heat?

My central heating system isn’t providing any or enough heat:

  • Increase temperature setting at room thermostat.
  • Open radiator valves.
  • Bleed appliance/system and check boiler water pressure (see help page).

Always contact your installer if problems recur or other faults occur.

What can I do myself if my tap water isn't getting hot or is only getting slightly warm?

My tap water isn’t getting hot or is only getting slightly warm:

  • Open hot water tap further.
  • Increase tap water temperature setting (refer to boiler user manual for further instructions).

Always contact your installer if problems recur or other faults occur.

What's wrong with my boiler if it displays a fault code?

We’ve programmed our central heating boilers to display a fault code whenever a problem occurs. The indicator flashes red in the event of a fault. Your central heating boiler’s temperature display shows the fault code in question.

If the code is only displayed for a brief moment, it can be redisplayed by turning your appliance OFF and then pressing the ‘Service’ button. The fault indicator will then remain illuminated showing the last fault code flashing on the temperature display. If there has never been a fault in the past, then no code will be displayed.

What does it mean if I get fault code 1?

Fault code 1 means that the boiler temperature is too high and may result in excessive pressure. What can I do myself?

  • Open radiator valves.
  • Bleed appliance and system.
  • Check boiler water pressure (between 1 and 2 bar).

Contact your installer if the fault persists.

What does it mean if I get fault code 4?

Fault code 4 means that no ignition flame signal has been detected. Check that the gas tap is open. If not, open fully. Press the reset switch. The appliance will then restart.

Contact your installer if the gas tap was already open, and fault code 4 persists.

What does it mean if I get fault code 5?

Fault code 5 means that a weak ignition flame signal has been detected. Contact your installer to rectify this fault.

What does it mean if I get fault code 6?

Fault code 6 means that an ignition flame detection error has occurred. Contact your installer to rectify this fault.

My fault code isn't listed, what should I do?

Always contact your installer for other fault codes or consult the documentation supplied with your appliance.
